Need advice. Heater hose has a hole.. cant replace just the hose?

The hose that connects to the heater core into the firewall has a hole in it. My old SLP headers had burnt some material off the heater hose years ago but it finally busted through... After looking at it i see that that hose connects to metal tubing and runs underneath the car.. I do not want to dig out all that metal tubing coolant line..

What are my options.. I have about 1 1/2 inchs of useable hose that come out of the metal side... I was thinking of attaching something like a TB by byass fitting but in 3/4 inch size and attaching that old useable hose to the new hose via the Bypass fitting.. what do u think?

I had the same problem and had to buy new hoses, and unfortunately they aren't cheap.

The heater hoses are factory crimped onto the metal pipes. You can replace the whole thing as one unit or individual hoses. To remove individual hoses, you will need to Dremel or somehow cut through the crimped metal collars (without cutting through the metal pipe underneath). If you can make just a groove with a Dremel, you might be able to get it started with a screwdriver and peel it off like a zipper. You can then replace the hose and secure it with a normal hose clamp to the pipe.

If you have enough hose to work with, you could use a hose barb and splice out the damaged part.

Ding ding ding! This will be the easiest and cheapest way. I used a piece of copper pipe, so now where it gets close to the header it cant burn through anymore.

Went a head and ghettoed it up with some Duct tape... not leaking now.. that area is low pressure so i didnt think it'd leak using some duct tape for the time.
i dont have a dremel to cut it with...

the long tubes i put on it do not even come near the hose.. the shorty slps came right up to it though.

i can probably get one of the shops to do it unless i go out and buy a dremel... they'd probably do it for less though..

Do like shoebox says, barb fitting and hose clamps and no worries. Duct tape is good for some things, coolant it is not.

my slps burned mine last week - i used a 1/2 brass nipple - its threaded so it has some bite like a hosebarb and is equivalent of 3/4" hose barb which they dont make

i then put a bunch of heat wrap on that area - its a temp fix till my new hose comes in then im gonna hose clamp it inplace like shoebox said

I replaced just that hose section once and it worked fine. Pretty much the way described above. Wrapped it in some Taylor heat wrap and tied it back using stainless tie to AC metal plumbing pipe. Worked fine.

Been there done that.

Dremeled off old hose and replaced with metal flex hose.

If you don't have a dremel, I guess you need a whole new heater hose. JMHO
