Need Advice...93 LT1 rebuild or...

Hey guys...as the weather starts to break, I'm looking to do a rebuild on my LT1. With multiple oil leaks in the usual LT1 places and 116000 miles on it, I'm afraid to start my onslaught of bolt on changes only to have the thing go.
Is a rebuild of the existing engine the way to go? If so, does anybody know any good engine shops in the Detroit metro area? A ballpark price would be cool if you've had it done yourself...

What kind of mods are you looking at??

Oil leaks do not mean you need a rebuild.. they're fixable leaks.

I have 108,000 and I'm about to do a cam and probably nitrous... no fear. These motors seem to last pretty long...

If you're looking to invest more money, then maybe I can see a rebuild. From what I've seen, rebuilding is cheaper than buying another LT1 from someplace, since GM crate LT1's are all gone.

I would suggest contacting Bruce at Aggressive performance (586)771-9122. I currently have a 93 Camaro which is built pretty good. I guess my question to you is what kind of budget are you working with.

Cool

You can still get a factory short block for about $1700 or so.Slap on some direct fit LT4 heads, hot cam,and heavy duty timing chain, add another$2200 or so.Installation extra.Scoggin Dickey, and maybe some members here that work for G.M.Hope this helps.(Do a search up above).

Spend 17.95 and get your oil analyzed. It'll tell you the condition of your engine and the wear and tear it has done internally. It was the best money I spent.

Search for Blackstone Labs on google. I'm sure there are others, but they are in Indiana and are relatively quick.
