necessary to take apart spring/ shock during install?
Ive been goin through some install pages on doing your springs and/or shocks, and im a bit confused. Im going to be swapping complete suspension from one car to another, and was wondering if i still have to remove them from one another, and have to recompress them before reinstallation in the new car. i have to swap, front/rear suspension, and rear-end/driveshaft in about a day.............. so im tryin to plan everything out b4 hand.
Thanks,
Ryan

If you are talking about just switching out the complete struts (Shock and Spring together) then you don't have to worry about compressing the actual spring they will just slide in there with out a problem. At least thats how it was for me when I replace my front struts. But if you are talking about replacing the shock part then yes you do have to compress the spring before you take it apart. I just rented a spring compressor from Auto Zone. As for the rear of the car the springs will just come out once you disconnect the shock and let the rearend down all the way. Hope this helps.

If you are just swapping the suspension from one car to the other just pull out the whole front shock assembly from each car and swap em, you won,t have to compress the springs at all.
Now if you want to leave the springs on one car and just take the shock then yes you will have to compress the spring and disassemble the spring/shock assembly.
