A friend of mine picked up a bone-stock yellow 1993 Formula over the summer of 2003 with under 50k on the clock. Stock, it went 13.5, then with SLP Loudmouth and a Moroso CAI coupled with free mods, 13.1.

Last night at Cecil County Dragway in Rising Sun, MD, he put down an 11.90 @ 116mph with a ZEX bare-bones 125 shot. No bottle heater, nothing.

No kidding. This car is amazingly fast for under $1000 in modifications.

My '94 went 8.64@79.9 in bone stock trim, which is about right on with that 13.5.

Mine is a '94 6spd hardtop by the way.

 

Wow, that's one strong running LT1, that's awesome! I just ran there last Sat and I was getting close but still havnt been able to get an 11 yet. I think for my next mod I'll just add a nice shot of nitrous and see if I can skip right into the high 10's

I went 13.3@104 with Callaway CAI, exhaust, and 1.6 rockers 5 yrs ago.

I was told that 93s responded the best to mods so I did a 383.

 

I was there wednesday night and talked to him a little bit. (real nice guy) His first run was a 12.1 followed by a 11.9.

Loadre.. it was a 125 shot and why don't you believe him. That trap speed is enough for an 11 second run.

I wish he would have ran it more but he left after that 11.9 run. I think the car had more in it.

 

That is really amazing getting a stock lt1 auto to run a 13.5 . Most people are low 14's to be running mid 13's seems like a huge difference for stock cars. I haven't taken mine to the track yet I am hoping mine is a freak too.

 

what type of tire was he on?
Mine trapped went 13.4 at 104 on street tires with just a CAI and muffler also.

 

He was running 245 Nittos.

He has 2 runs with the 100 shot, then for the 11 second pass installed the 125 jets.

And it's an automatic. It's very legit!

 

The times sound very legit to me, but my question is, how long can the engine withstand that abuse? I mean no bottle heater, timing retard box, fuel pump, etc, etc is asking for trouble. Never the less, congragulations to your friend.

 

I have all my mods in sig except I haven't installed my inline pump yet, with stock pump I handle all my mods & a 75 shot so far, I'll try 100 soon

 

13.5 stock I find that very hard to believe. 13.1 with intake and exhaust......i have never heard of a LT1 with just intake and exhaust with 2.73's and stock stall in an auto almost running 12's......well i guess i've heard it now. This due to the fact the best i could muster with my car stock was 14.7........then again 120,000miles is a lot of miles. granted that was with the posi gone, and bald tires but still.......This is not to say it didn't run that fast......but i have a hard time beliving.

You must have a freak car.........that is awesome times keep it up
