N e one with hooker aerochamber catback? just a few questions

how has it held up for you? i.e. rust?, annoying drone,?, stuff like that. also what are the good comments as well? also i was planning on gutting my cat at the same time, but ive heard many catbacks with gutted cats with these popping sounds, almost like a backfire is that caused from gutting the cat or what else could it be?
thanks

easy to install, sounds great no drone. some popping when engine is revved, fairly quiet at idle but wakes up when you hit the gas

Thumbs up

I have had the system on my car and everybody tells me how bad it sounds. For what you pay it is the best by far I got mine from jegs and got it installed for like around $300. The only better sounding susytem is the $700 systems

i love it, at speed cruising on the highway its silent inside the car, no real exhaust noise.

there is though a small drone comming from my passenger side somewhere, i can hear it while accelerating. i'm going to be getting under the car wed. to put in a gutted y-pipe and i'll make sure nothing is leaking.

other than the fact that it starts rusting as soon as its installed here in florida, i love it, and i love its price. the muffler itself isn't rusting, but all the other pipes have surface rust and its only been prolly 4 or 5 months

so is the aerochamber a headturner? like if i were to rev it up at a stoplight would it be loud enough for say, someone across the intersection to hear it? thanks

also what is exhaust coating and can i get it at autozone? is it like a paint or a sealent?? does it stop rust ? protect against heat? thanks

I put my Hooker kit on last year, and so far I am extremely happy with it. I took off my Flowmaster 2 chamber kit, and it's the best thing I ever did. I have an off road pipe, and it doesn't pop except when I rev it up, but all exhausts do that, even my stock did. I have gotten more compliments in the last few months with the Hooker than I did with the Flowmaster in 3 years. Installation was a breeze, and only took me a couple hours and a 6 pack in my driveway I also noticed a slight gain in power over the Flowmaster. I say go for it.

EDIT- BTW, the Hooker kit is quieter at idle than my Flowmaster, but when you put your foot into it, it really comes alive. If you rev up at a stoplight, people will definitely hear you.

if you're concerned about turning heads and getting attention, you might be better off with a loudmouth or a borla, or something to that nature.

the hooker is pretty quiet, although at WOT, it does scream pretty loud. But in daily driving, its just a nice, refined, mellow v8 for the v8 enthusiast who wants to hear the rumble without the ringing of the ears (us old folks i guess)

btw: i have mac headers, offroad pipe, and the hooker cat back.. but it doesn't pop, its not loud at all, and its very very pleasant. I like.

the car gets enough attention already , i was just looking for exhaust that sounds beautiful ,(better than stock) performs well , and is not as loud as running straight headers or loudmouth ! thanks for all your comments !

I'm also looking into the hooker system. To tell you the truth I think my car sounds pretty nice for stock. Its a little quieter than I like, is the hooker a significant improvement over stock?

as i learned from my last post , the one about the whole flowmaster discussion which ended up in a heated argument about magnaflow having c shaped baffles i learned that hooker will outflow flowmaster but is not as loud , b/c flowmaster is not as straight flowing and has baffels in it to give it that classic flowmaster rumble, plus the flowmaster system i was looking at has a 2.5" I-pipe when stock has 2.75" i was gonna go with the 3" aerochamber system with 2.5" tips but i was prolly gonna buy borla square tips off my buddy and put those on . other than that i had been reccomended to spray the pipes with exhaust coating which i guess prevents rust and eliminates some heat?? b/c the pipes are aluminum not stainless steel. i have never actually heard hooker in person just clips on the net. so if n e one near the kankakee area (bourbonnais - summer camp of the chicago bears!) has it on i would love to get together to hear it sometime!

You feel like a short road trip up to Aurora? That's where I am. BTW, my Hooker has 4 3" tips. I've never seen the Hooker with 2.5".
