Is My Waterpump History?
Stopped to get gas, started the car back up and the temp pegged 260* got home and let it cool down, took off the cap.....
no water what-so-ever in there. I put 5 cup fulls of water in there and started the car up and looked under it, and there came the water pouring out!!! Is this a sign that it is history? If so, where and which one should I go with?
thanks,
-Mike

not exactly sure where it was coming from as of last night, but like 2 months ago, a friend of mine noticed it leaking and he got up under there and saw where it was coming from. He said it was the waterpump and he is pretty good when it comes to cars. So I need to know.... go with a electric one or stick with the stock one? Is it a do-it-yourself job or should i have someone do it?

I would say stick with the stock one. They are cheaper, and a little safer I think. If the electric one goes bad, you will lose your coolant a lot faster, and possibly wreck something else if you don't catch it right away. You would gain 5-7 hp with an electric one, but I don't think it is worth it.
You could do the swap yourself. It isn't too hard. Let me know if you have any questions about the install.

My mechanic said he would do it for $150.00? Does this sound like a good deal? Would save me some time that I really dont have. Where did you pick your up at and how much? I was told
to buy a new one, not a re-made one.

Remanufactured water pumps are fine. They were originals at one time, and plus they have lifetime warantees. I got mine from autozone for $49.95 plus the core. $150 sounds decent, since it would probably take about three hours if you have some experience. So at basic mechanic rates, that is a good price, he isn't ripping you off or anything.
A remake will be fine. I have only had mine for about 2,000 miles, but the last one was a reman. and had been in for over 50k. It wasn't even bad when I replaced it, I had the motor out so I figured I should get a new one. And an original gm one will be a hell of a lot more, and I doubt it comes with a lifetime warranty.
