Considering I am pretty much stock except for what's listed in my sig, and a CAI, the car only seems to go 14.2 ET's at the 1/4, with 96MPH trap. I did manage a 1.9 sec 60' time though the rest were around 2.2 seconds. This was by sea level (Hawaii) at night.

I'm still learning how to race the car down the track on my street tires since I can't justify DR's for the very occasional track visit.

I'm reading others posting ET's of mid 13's or so in 93-96 Z28's with not much more mods than me. Is my car off or do the times seem right?

 

As far as your mods go- I don't think just putting a flowmaster on the stock exhaust is going to be worth much, if anything. The CAI will help out a little. Your time seems just a little slow, but nothing to worry about. I didn't go mid 13's until I got intake, headers and exhaust- 13.5 @102.7.

If you're a little off on your times, the usual thing you do is start looking at tune up stuff. When was the last time your fuel filter was replaced? Spark plugs and wires due? Any surging, hesitation, misfires or does it run smooth?

 

The times seem about right,the previous owner of my car had a CAI and a cuout and he ran an identical time of 14.2. Granted there are some people breaking into mid-13s off the same mods. but there can be other factors involved, examples: manual tranny, better track conditions, possible weight reductions, ect.

dont feel too bad i only ran a best of 14.7 at 95...although i bogged at the line, have/had and opti miss and let go too early on my best run, but your actually higher than most people with lt1s.

 

i think you are alright... some cars are "factory freaks." My car with a CAI and cat back did 14.4 @ 97.xx

So i think you are ok. Just when you start modding more, make sure everything involved with tune up stuff is maintained and looked at as well. Otherwise you will be like me and run a 13.3 with my mods (but i do have 2.73 gears).

 

You are about right. People always claim their times are lower than what they really are. Even a 14.2 is quick for a Stock Z, people don't understand what a fast car is. Most of the Ricers run about 11's or 12's right?
