My thoughts on the ES mount

Well installed it yesterday and it was horrible. I started the car up and rush the engine a little and vibration shook everything that was loose. It even does it when I step on the gas pedal. I looked at the design of it and seems to be a solid mount with just the urethane aroung the mount(maybe thats why of the vibrations). Well I take it out and it is horrible. The car feels like Im driving on a dirt road. So I say the hell with it Ill deal with it tomorrow. I drive to work today (30 miles). Its ok in the cruise speed. Get up to 90 and feels like the drive shaft is gonna fall out. But it is better at idle now after the car is warm and I rush the engine. Now going around 30mph I get a hum vibrations like its ok then a hum vibration going in rotation with driveshaft. Should I pull this mount out and try others. Are there others because Im not going with stock againg. Gm should be ashamed putting that Crap A$$ mount in. I see why it snaped into piece. Its just metal with rubber glued to it.
Is it ways to make the mount better. I thought of taking the preload bar out to see what that does. Any thoughts?

No, the thing sucks. I've tried it in like 3 different cars, my 89 Formula, 94 Formula and my buddies 91 GTA. Exactly what your describing. Go to the dealer and order a 1LE mount. For some people, the ES mount is tolerable, but most people (like me) dump it quickly.

Whats the difference between the 1le to stock. Now I know the ES will never break. Will the 1le have a chance of breaking.

Mine did the same thing. I was really surprised by the new "harshness" my car had with it installed, but i stuck with it. After about a month it calmed down. And now I don't even notice it. But a couple months after intalling it I did install my Loudmouth so maybe it helped hide some of the noise and vibration by adding some of it's own
But like I said I don't notice anything different in it now. I've had it in about a year now and I haven't felt the vibrations in a long time. Maybe the urethane just takes some breaking in. I say stick it out for awhile.

I really havn't heard many stories of people breaking the 1LE mount. Many people have broken the stocker though. I had the 1LE and it looked identical to my stock mount, I really couldn't tell the difference between them. The 1LE just uses a harder rubber compound than stock. I replaced the 1LE for an ES mount, I never noticed any difference in vibration or problems from either of them fwiw.

Did you install the preload bar? Why did you go with the ES mount. I have to say it was really horrible. Like the driveshaft lost its balance or something. Like I said before the vibration even goes when I hit the gas pedal and rev the engine up.

well newbie, now i feel like a jackass for telling you to get the es mount, but i still love mine. and a little vibration(very little in my case) is well worth not having to change my broken stock mount all the time i once went through 2 stockers in a month!! and that was when i put in the es.

sorry it rattles your car so much. some cars just rattle more than others.

Thats ok. Trial and error on this one. Im gonna put the 1le on when I get it and see. I kinda think the ES one will loosen a little but I order it now so over the holidays if I want to switch I can. I just want something there that will not break again because since I installed the 315s out back traction has improve and thats when the mount broke. I hooked really hard on a street race and heard a loud boom from the tranny and it scared the $hit out of me. But I still polished over a rustang.

I installed it like the instructions said and used that extra plate, I assume that is the preload bar. I didn't have any problem with the 1LE just wanted to see how much better the ES was in firming things up since it was only like $22. I have the ES trans mount and torque arm mount now and really didn't notice any big difference in vibration with both of them. I have seen that many more A4 guys report vibration problems with the ES mount than do M6's, fwiw. I would just stick with the 1LE if I had noticed a big difference in vibration, I'm sure the 1LE is plenty strong for most people.

AH you have a T56. Yeah when I searched there were more 4l60e guys that reported vibs that the t56 guys. Is it the same mount as the 4l60e? It is just a universal that uses either two or one screws for the stud which ours uses the one stud. Looking at how it is made I see why you would get vibs because it is solid on the inside with the urethane around the t shape mount. Im gonna push it real hard the next couple of days to see if it will loosen any. But it is really bad around 90.

yeah it's the same mount for M6's and A4's but the tails of the tranny's might be slightly differnet and thats what causes the nasty vibe!

BTW: does any one have the part# for the 1LE mount??
I need one!

ES mount for sale ( Cheap) anyone want it??lol

I am gonna disagree, I think the new mount is just bringing out the vibrations your car ALREADY had and making them more clear. The vibe at 90MPH is there in almost every LT1 I've been in, it is the driveshaft. You are prolly just feeling it now because of the stiffer mount. I put in an ES tranny mount and the torque arm mount, and I love them! I am about to put in some Poly motor mounts too. I have the vibe at 90 too, but I would much rather have a firmer ride then have a soft mount hide the vibes that will stil be there.

Ive been running ES engine mounts(black), ES tranny mount(black) and ES tq arm mount(black). It was really noticeable the first week. Almost felt like I was sitting in a 2000hp drag car...they way it would vibrate, shake sometimes(im a 6speed also). Then I built a new motor put it in with all the ES stuff and most of the vibrations were gone. I think somehow I was picking up vibration from the stock motor..might not have been balanced perfect!?!? I guess, its really even hard to say, I changed MANY parts when I did the first engine swap.

Either way....as long as its installed right itll eventually give in and not rattle everthing so much. I dont drive my car much so it took a few months(few hundred miles) for it to wear in and give a little. But, it eventually did.
