was drivin around tonight... and then all of a sudden my serpentine belt just shredded itself.- it was dark so i couldnt tell how bad the damage was but i know that i saw one wire that had the covering torn off of it,- i hope it didnt hurt my new MSD plug wires.. it also took the connector off the A/C compressor... there is rubber stuffed behind the tensioner pulley, and more rubber behind the AC compressor..

How good are the chances that it ****ed up somethin good??.. My "check Gauges" light came on also...

 

Mine shredded itself as well, the alternator was cracked and the pulley grenaded, power steering pulley was dented (I was able to unbend it well enough), and something in the A/C compressor was damaged enough to spring a leak. I don't know if the belt did all that damage or the alternator tore itself up and took out the belt too, either way my junk was majorly hosed...

Thats what I was thinking, it may be something as simple as the belt tensioner failed. On one of my previous cars, when the belt tensioner broke, the serpentine belt was chewed to pieces.

 

due to the lack of power when you lost your altenator.

I'm bettin it's just the tensioner because mine went out about 3mos ago. Shreaded the belt and it snapped on me, lost power steering, check gauges came on, etc.

 

Ok.. Thanks guys!- i was going to replace the tensioner anyway because there is so much rubber packed behind it....
