Are my rockers too tight ??

mods in sig, comp 1.6 rockers on comp r lifters. when we installed them, my dad went to zero lash, then did 1 full turn. i've been reading lately their only supposed to be 1/8th of a turn past zero lash. my dad said 1 full turn will the the piston inside the lifter to the middle of the bore, and thats where its supposed to be, he said if they were too tight i would be having other problems. i'm not having any problems per say, but i think my combo should be making more power, and just trying to figure stuff out..how should they be adjusted or tightened? thanks
-Jason
also, if they were too tight, would i be losing power?

Generally one full turn past 0 is too much for best power. I believe that is what the factory sets them at.

1/2 turn is usually recommended, however some go as little as 1/8 when the valves are closed and the cam lobe for that particular cylinder is on the base circle. JMHO

Yes.

What method did you use to do it the first time?

One turn is not recommended for Comp R's. In my testing, they only had ~1¼ turns of complete travel with 7/16 rocker studs, so you could be close to having them so tight that you could cause damage to them. There have been so many rocker tightening threads lately, it's not even funny. Back them off to 1/8 and see how she goes.

Re: Are my rockers too tight ??

That is way too tight for Comp Rs. Most people have the best luck closer to 0 lash, but you can go as far as 1/8 turn as previously mentioned.

Yes you could be seriously down on power if you have Comp Rs at 1 turn past 0 lash.

LOL, you don't have to be a dad, not to know how to adjust Comp R's. Just look at the many threads dealing with the subject.

I plan on passing this info down to the next generation:

Me: Pay attention now, this is how you set the lash on Comp R lifters.

My grandson: Goo!

Do a search and you will find ALOT of people that have mis adjusted R lifters. Most people claim a big HP increase from having them 1/4 turn past zero and then adjusting them to 1/16 turn.

The Comp R lifters are very picky about adjustment and it is not that your dad is dumb or anything, the R's are just VERY picky about adjustment.
