My heater sux, help!

Ok, I can't figure out why my heater won't even heat up. I start it up before I leave in the morning and drive 20 min to work and it is barely warm when I get there! Anyone have any suggestions? There isn't any signs of the heater core being messed up or anything. Thanks.

90% of the time it's a clogged heater core. Flush it out anyways.

could be your heater cores gone..

eventually youll see the coolant run down your passenger side to the floorboard..

easy to replace and fix..

I had the very same problem as you. My heater would get hot for seriously like 3 seconds and then blow out cold air. I assumed it was my 160 thermo.
It WAS NOT the thermo. Flush your heater core. Take the two hoses off the heater core at the firewall. Take a garden hose and "flush" out the heater core. We flowed the water through the bottom first, then through the top and finally back through the bottom opening again. Put the hoses back on, and viola the heater works PERFECTLY even with the 160 thermo still in the car. I beat that is it, unless you have a puddle of fluid in your passenger side floor area. Then more than likely it is a defective heater core.

Everybodies heater sucks. Done the flush thing 2 times now.

Maybe if you get rid of the flow restrictor, the core will stay cleaner longer since the flow is much greater. I know when I ran mine without it for a few days, it blew some damn hot air. Almost curled my eyebrows. LOL

Don't recommend it though.

reccomend, wish this board had spell check.

Question HEATER HOSES

question guys, you said these hoses are by the passenger side on the firewall? and which hose would I flush first?
I'v done this before and will I have to bleed the system? to get out any air pockets?
thanks

so if coolant appears on the passenger side floor board, that means that my heater core is defective??? it only did it once like a half a year ago.... and never did it again. but my heater still doesnt work... so should i try flushing it or should i just go ahead and replace it, cause i did leak ONCE...?

Stop being afraid of your cars.

Just take the two hoses off, flush water one way then the other, reconnect, top off the radiator, run it with bleeder screws open until fluid starts to flow out, close them up, drive it around like normal then let cool over night and refill it again in the morning. You will be fine. Good Luck....
