My Heater gives off a FOUL odor sometimes?!?

My heater after it has warmed up and the air is really hot starts to give off this really stange burning odor sometimes. I notices it always happens at certain streets and then sometimes it just gives off the smell at random times. Any help would be apreciated and I bow down to you.

You may be having the same problem I had. The heater inlet, which is actualy right under the cowl of the hood, was sucking in fumes from under the hood. The fumes from under the hood had a burning smell because my EGR valve was leaking. Once I replaced the EGR valve, the smell was gone. I had a code for the EGR valve at the time as well. Something to check.

does it smell moldy?? If so....your heater core might be leaking water into the duct and the water just gets stagnent. Just a thought.

Cool

With the engine running, and the heater blower on,might spray a 1/4 can of Lysol into the vents(behind the hood by the windshield wipers). This will kill any mold if thats the problem.Open the windows though because Lysol really stinks itself.My02

Make sure your AC drain pipe is not clogged up.

Go to Shoe's tech. site. See AC drain hole.

Don't know if this is your problem, but if mildew gets in the system because of plugged AC drain, it really can smell like something rotten.JMHO.

And use the lysol before you buy the "special" stuff which costs mucho $$. JMHO
