Cool My first z28

Hello everyone, I recently purchased a 1994 z28...my very first camaro.

I had 118k mile when purchased
6 spd tranny
flowmaster 40 series with 3" pipe and no cats
k&n filter
aftermarket elbow
air foil (my first mod)
msd wires
tb bypass

The gentleman that i purchased from said he has ran Mobil one since new, the car does not burn oil, and runs hard.

Now, being like the rest of you, this is not good enough for me. I have been looking for more power since getting smoked by a 2003 Mach I. Any suggestions.

Also, some times, my car will not start right away. I have to crank on it for 5 to 10 seconds before it lights off. I changed the fuel regulator, as i noticed that it was leaking by to the intake, and i thought that this was flooding the engine. This helped a little, but it still takes a while to start.

I am also getting a SES light occasionally several minutes after the engine starts, but it usually goes away within 10 to 20 minutes.....usually.

Thanks for any replies........love the sight

Welcome.....

Scan for Codes, that might give you an insight on any problems...

Use the search function on the bottom right of the forum... Most questions have been asked in the past and you might find the answer you are looking for.... There are no stupid questions, they have probably been asked a time or two...

Also check out homepages of persons on this forum.... Many of them have performance upgrades and tech info on them...
ie... Shoebox's tech section

Most of us have references to GM part #, too....

Have fun....

For the hard starting, I'd probably start with changing the plugs and the fuel filter. No telling how long it's been since that has been done.

Well, since I have bought the car, I have replaced the fuel filter, installed bosch double plat plugs, and installed a bosch fuel filter. I have also replaced the f/p regulator, as it was leaking fuel back through the vacuum line.

I thought that it also could have been the fuel pump, but when i turn the key on i hear it cycle....so i have let it cycle 3-4 time before starting the car, and it makes not difference.

Also, took it in to the dealer once to get the codes read and they were.....Fuel pressure reg (I replaced it soon after)
EGR valve, and EGR Solenoid.

would either one of the EGR components cause this? I have also got the off idle stumbles that everyone else seems to be crying about.

Is there something relatively inexpensive which i can purchase to read the codes myself? Dealer charges $25 to read.

I hear alot of ppl talking about "tuning". How and what do you need to do that.....and could it help a basically stock car?
