My First Track Day...

Ok this was my first time racing, it was at Irwindale, 1/8 mile strip...

R/T: .737
60': 2.228 (yech...)
330':6.004
1/8: 9.092
MPH: 79.37

Sorry I don't have an accurate weather report but it was probably 65 degrees and humidity's been around 50% lately. I'm pretty disappointed, I know my car should be at least low 8.70s with the mods that I have. I realize that the crappy 2.228 60' is hurting my ET quite a bit. If I just cut that 60' down to the 2.0XX where would I be ET wise? Oh I'm on 275 BFG KDWS tires which are useless through first gear, even with a good 2nd gear burnout. Stock suspension I launched with a fast, not sidestep but not slipped either, clutch release from 3000 rpm Any comments criticisms advice encouragement would be great thanks!

Re: My First Track Day...

I ran 9.039 @ 79.50 mph in my 96 Z28 auto with K&N CAI and Flowmaster cat back. I also had the same tires as you without a burnout.

That kinda sux that your track is only 1/8 mile. Ours here (Lebanan Valley) is 1/4. I hit 13.994 @ 99.03 mph in the same run.

Also, draggin takes practice. You will get much better times as you learn. There was a whole half a second (quarter mile) between my worst time and best time. Dragging experiance will give you better times. Work on the recation time as well. You should be in the .1's or .2's after your first few runs. My best reaction time so far was in my 9th run ever with a .018 R/T. Yes, .018... not a typo. Point is, your times get better the more you run. A little advise, pretend the last yellow light on the tree is the green light. The time between the yellow lights is set to the time it takes for your brain to see the last yellow and for you to actually hit the gas.
