My first 1/4 times.

Yesterday was my first trip to the 1/4 mile track. I have a 96 Z with flowmaster cat back and moroso intake, M6. My best run was 14.1 at i believe 95mph. Does that seem slower than it should? The engine was rebuilt back to specs about a month ago and has 1200 miles on the new one. Thanks...oh and do you think it will ruin my clutch really quickly to do that, its a stock clutch and I did 7 runs yesterday.

Your time isn't bad, it should be better considering its a new motor, but your mph is low. This may be due your motor being a little tight still. Give it a few thousand miles and go again. What was your 60 foot time on that run? As for your clutch, it was meant to be abused!

I agree, at 14.1 the MPH should be about 98.5-99. My 14.1 bone stock was at 98.46. Plus with those mods your MPH should be 100-101. Good enough for at least 13.9. With an SLP CAI and March pulleys I trap at almost 102.

Reaction time won't affect your ET.

I ran 14.02@99mph with flowmaster cat-back and Moroso CAI back in the day. Remmember this is with an A4 and with a 2.1 60'.
Your 95 seems pretty low, check your basic stuff like plugs or signs of burnt wires. Now i run a bit quicker with the cut-out, see time in sig.

Lower your 60 ft. and you'll get high 13's. I got a 13.8 @ 100 with 1.9 60 ft. stock with BFG Drag Radials. Thats the easiest way to lower your 60 ft. and if you drive your car every day then Nitto Drag Radials last VERY long. Traction is the enemy of our cars.

My friend that went with me had a 1.9 60' and he ran a 13.0... thats a big difference compared to your same 60' but with a 13.8.
(he has a 2001 formula automatic with intake and exhaust with the power programmer)

For a M6, it does sound a bit low. I ran 14.1 @ 97 when I was stock, but I have an A4. Manual cars usually trap a few MPH higher. First time at the track, maybe you slowed down too soon... your trap speed is found by 2 sensors at the end of the track... not sure how far apart they are, I forget.

im not sure but i believe the trap speed sensors are located at the finish line and 60 ft b4 it.....they take an average if i remember right u should be going a bit faster than the speed on ur time slip when u actually cross the line.
