Defroster [not heat tho] cycles the AC relay/compressor on and off..

Check the kuhnuetson valve at the back of the compressor. It may be low on kuhneutson fluid, causes that click your hearing when the clutch kicks in.

it does it even when my defroster isn't on

and do i just buy this fluid you speak of? or does it need to be "recharged" by professionals?

Most any auto parts stores carry it, just ask for "kuhnuetson fluid". IT comes in a bottle with an adapter to fit/fill the reservior. Shouldnt be more then a few bucks.
