Well... I just crushed one the other day..... BADLY.... although it took me 1/2 way through the intersection to get traction... once I hooked, I was gone.. and he was well into my rearview.

Exactly, there seems to be a lot of nieve (sp) people in here...I hate to break it to some of you but the new (99+) GT's have a fair amount of power. I've seen them dyno between 225 and 235 rwhp in stock trim. That translates to about 265 or so flywheel, after you figure for drivetrain loss. Remember auto LT1's put down about 235ish or so stock but weigh a good 200lbs more, the 6 speed LT1s seem to put down between 240 and 250 (seem a couple lower but in general) The newer 4.6's run good. One guy was saying he'd never seen one break a 14.8 I've never seen a newer GT (that was a 5 speed) run slower than a 14.8. Most them tend to be 14.20's and occassionaly one with a good driver will show a 13.90 or so at 101ish...

The ones that are in the high 13's and low 14's are called Cobras (99-02) no stock GT is running 13's!

Gears, cat back, CAI programming isn't stock period.

like i said, at my local track.....14.8s is good for GTs.....at 3200 ft, and the normal 5000 DA weather.....sea leavel most GTs could go low 14s.

IROCManiac, i am speaking off experience only, but even w/ catback/cai only.....i never lost to a GT, and in fact beat one of the older 4.6s (97 i think) with a 75 shot....around here the norm for GTs even with good drivers, is low 15s.

Well, the only new mustang i ran was a convertible. He said he was stock, but i doubt it cause he hung with me, it was damn close. I ran a 14.7 at 98, and i was at 3400ft, that was without the cutout. This convert gt wasn't heavily modded though, his exhaust was quiet. All i know is, be on your game, get your car runnin good, practise your launch, cause if your not at your best, he'll get ya.

Yeah i think it will be a close race because i have road in his car and its gets up pretty good and he hasn't even fully got on it because he is still breaking in his engine. Although i don't know how strong my car pulls when it is running good. So i can't really compare.
