My car died going 35mph in 3rd. absolutely no warning

Going to my girls house for din din and my car dies.????? Have no idea what's happenin'. There was not a sound under the hood, a warning light or anything. Plenty of fuel in the tank. New plugs and wires and IAC a month ago. Fuel pump comes on to pressurize the system, but won't turn over. I let it sit for 2hours to see if it would help, but it didn't. It's 65 degrees in Columbus and the car had been running for a total of 10 minutes. I hoping it's not the F****n opti crap. I'm not in the mood for that. I was supposed to use this money to get my fender and front bumper cover.

let me know, my car is just sitting there.

thanx guys

Fuel, Air, or Fire. It sounds like fire.

How would I test it to see if it is Fire?

pull out a plug and attach the wire back to it. have someone crank the car while you hold the plug and watch for a spark.

If it is the opti crap, then what are my options. How much money are we talking. how much will Gm bend me over with it. and is it to my advantage to spend money on a Msd or an equivalent?????? Any thing would help.

Check your fuses underneath your hood. I had the same thing happen to me and it was a fuse... After i'd spent a assload on everything else it ended up being a 10 cent fuse...

You have to hold the plug to ground or else it will never spark. It needa to have a ground to jump to. Be carefull you dont electrocute yourself.

Check the wire coming off the coil. When i put on the new wires, the boot on the coil wire was too long, so things just made contact, but when i hit a few bumps it worked its way loose and I just died in the middle of the Road. It was pretty embarasing, I got it towed, and ordered an opti, when I went to put it in and took off the air filter box I saw the coil wire just hanging. Boy did I feel dumb. I coulda just hooked it up on the road instead of having the cops stop and having to pay for a tow truck.

Ok , you guys have to talk to me like I'm an F'n idiot. I know what you are talking about if you were talking about an 89 SHO, but this is an LT1 and I don't exactly know where the fuses under the hood is or where the coil wire is. I know where the opti is, but where exactly is the coil wire? Where is the fuses. and with the ground on the plug, do I just find any metal to the body?

Thanx for your patience, I know musical equipment better than cars, but I am mechanically inclined and have done some medium duty jobs.

Does the car even crank over ?
If your battery dies your car will turn off. Do your lights work good.

Do you here anything when you turn the key ( when you attemp to turn it on)

Fuses are in the cab on drivers side of instrument pannel. The coil wire is under and to the right of the water pump. If your alternator is dead, you probably would have noticed things acting a lil different right before it died and it would be completely dead (no interior lights, won't turn over at all)

My engine cranks. all accessories still work, so it's not alternater. It cranks and sounds like either no fuel or no spark. It leads me to believe that it's no spark. the fuel pump charges the system, and before it died, it didn't sputter or anything, it just died.

TTT. What fuse should I look for? and If the coil wire came off, do I just trim a little off the top to make it fit?

The Engine Bay fuse box is located on the drivers side right next to where your air box is. Probably should check the two INJ fuses as well as the PCM Fuse. I had something similar to this happen to me before. I pulled the PCM fuse for about 5 minutes...put it back in and the car fired and drove away.
