My cammed LT1 vs 2001 LS1.......
My cammed LT1 vs 2001 LS1.......
A buddy of mine keeps talking crap saying my car is all bark. It was my only car for a while so I never wanted to race afraid of it breaking and me not having another car to get to work. Now I have another car and don't have an excuse. So I am really tired of him telling other guys its just an LT1. He knows everything I have done to it. But keeps telling everyone he will beat me. I'm not the one to talk crap but he is annoying me.
Anyhow the only thing I think he has is a Lid and I think 4.11 gears. You can see everything I have in my sig. He does have an automatic though. I have the M6. Is he really going to beat me in the 1/8mile? Let me guys know what you think.

man with your set up you should be able to smoke most cars on the road, when my lt1 was all stock with just headers it would edge out ls1's pretty easily, they just seem to really start to shine in third gear and on. I would let him get a jump and then take off and blow past him if your on the track your time will show how much faster you really are
haha... I'll be the first to have my money on the ls1. This is an 1/8th mile race. If you put some tire on your car, you will beat him (and if you know how to drive). Do you not have a 1/4 mile track? You will beat him in the 1/4 pretty bad, even without good tires.
So you think he might have me in the 1/8th?
Since you are asking the question about where to launch, I would assume you haven't ran down the 1/8th mile track in your car yet? Not trying to be rude, I just think an auto ls1 with 4.11's will pull you through the 1/8th. If you were a seasoned driver, I would say it would be really close (this is without good tires). In the 1/4, you will beat him pretty good. You have a solid 12 second car (considering everything is tuned and running properly) but an auto ls1 with 4.11's can easily run low 13's possibly even high 12's. You won't beat him in the 1/8th without tire and good driving skills.
you will kill him in the 1/8, 1/4 1000ft if his is stock even if he had all the bolt ons your car should fly with the le1 and your cam. if your really worried go to the closest track and watch the stock ls1's run. then run yours against them, they are not all brand new any more, they are now all old cars like our ltx's
I wouldn't worry too much. My LT1 with basic bolt ons kept up with my bro's LS1. He had someone in his car with, and I had my A/C on low and fans on full blast since I forgot to turn them off. He also started a split second before I did and was barely creeping away... you shouldn't have any problems really.

is your tack only 1/8th mile? I would find a 1/4 track so you will not only beat him but embarrass him.
Seeing you have the tires and weight reduction, you will probably beat him in the 1/8th but you never know for sure. I have a friend who's bone stock auto ls1 went high 12's so there are some really stout stock ls1's.
I know a lot of people are saying how fast your car is but internet racing is different than real racing. The best way to find out if you will beat him is to race him.
