I'm putting together my motor and noticed I have a different part in my timing cover that I don't see in the manual. I know it goes on the crank and believe its the igniter but does only certain years have them? Anyone got pics of um?

 

maybe you are talking about the crank sensor? or the reluctor ring that slips over the crank just after the the timing gear? the sensor is 96-97 specific and are used to sense misfires.
