Sean,
That's sweet! Glad to see your project is coming along great. My car won't fire with the fuel injection on it now. Soon as I sort that out your cam is going in. Can't wait for that, and your video.

Re: My 355 short block pics

It feels damn good after a long build to finally crank it for the first time. I went nuts when i finished mine up this year after 2 yrs. No leaks or suprises and she idled perfectly after a couple mins. Now for the video of that huge cam!

YES it does!!!!! I had my 3 kids, wife, brother and his 4 year old son in the garage, so I couldn't go to nuts, but I was HAPPY... It was a hard old thrash but it was worth it. I'll take it for a little drive tonight nothing too nuts I don't have the tune, just to get some time on the new parts. Oh and the Video....

Dont be going WOT yet without a tune you can be running lean and denotation is not what you want neither running pig rich washing down the walls.

The tune in it was for my CC503 with my heads, injectors and all the other stuff from the stock short block, so it will be close. But I will not go over 4000 and only at part throttle, to be safe. New tune should be in Thursday. Then I'm going to pound on it. LOL

I posted a vid in a new post:https://www.camaroz28.com/forums/sho...32#post6727132

Re: My 355 short block pics

A mail order tune will not give you a/f numbers. Although he has changed the fuel trims it still can be running lean or rich. You need to buy yourself a wideband to know when are where your a/f is going lean or rich if it is. Otherwise you run it the way it is and if it is lean detonation doesnt take long to destruct things specially going WOT. I know how long it took you to build it and would be shame to trash that bottomend if your not taking the precautions. Trust me been there done that. I spent 2 years working f/t and going to school f/t to take the cheap route and take someone word on a mailorder tune that your a/f is accurate. Not trying to scare you but its better to be safe then sorry dude. Alot of time and money goes into these builds and just watching out for my fellow fbody guys and Canadians!

Re: My 355 short block pics

You know it funny no one says what you just said. Your right though!!! I have access to a Mustang dyno, but the guy has NO idea how to tune computer cars just carb cars. What I did with Ion's mail order tune for my 503, is went to the dyno and data logged it on the dyno. Then sent the dyno info and the data log info back to him and he sent me an adjustment(FREE). I had to do that twice but in the end the A/F was bang on and I gained 17 more RWHP over the original mail order tune. He sends his tune's rich to protect his A$$.
Thanks for the warning, and your right we Canadian F- body guys must look out for each other...

Re: My 355 short block pics

Good stuff... put some kms on it to break it in and get it to the dyno for some numbers! I went to get mine done last month and my fuel pump was crapping out on me while doing runs so wasnt able to make a complete pull. Got my new walbro 255 and hotwire kit in and hoping to make some big power now that i can run some full pulls. So far 357rwhp @ 5500 / 377tq @ 4350 going way lean cause of the pump. Hoping to hit 380-400rwhp in full emissions trim.

I'd like to see it when it's done..it would be great if you could get those numbers with full emissions stuff, but will it still be emissions compliant? What does your set up consist of?

Did you use Royal purple break in oil? I'm having a bit of trouble with a oil leak where my pan seals to the timing chain cover!!! I used silicone and torqued everything right, but it still leaks a tiny bit.I've read that royal purple does not get along well with NEW oil pan gaskets but after you run regular oil it will stop leaking, and you can go back to royal purple. The break-in oil is mineral oil, NOT synthetic. Well see... I'm going to put Valvoline oil in it after 500KM's with the break in oil.

I'm a bit worried about my stock fuel pump too, but last year with a 150 wet shot my fuel pressure never went down enough to trip the safety switch set at 38 LB's and the guy at the dyno watched the gauge i have on the fuel solenoid and it stayed at 39-40. I'm hoping it will be good for a N/A pull. If not I'll need one of those pumps too. Where did you get yours? Just in case...LOL

I bought my car 7 years ago in Hamilton, the wife and i flew up and bought it off the original owner(on line AUTO TRADER.CA), so I know about the emission stuff up there and if you can make that much HP legally, that VERY IMPRESSIVE!!!!! Keep me posted.

Re: My 355 short block pics

Im pretty sure my builder put break in oil but i not 100% sure. Put Mobil 1 Synthetic 10w30 and so far still no leaks. Sounds like either the its not tight enough or you possibly pinched the gasket around the timing cover. When you do your interval change i would drop the pan down enough to see what the gasket looks like.

11:1 Forged 355ci
Ported AFR 190cc Heads (Flow 294/208 @ .600")
Lloyd Elliott Emissions 223/230 .565/.565 112LSA (Reworked CC503 Design)
Ported Intake
52mm Holley
30lb Injectors
Pacesetter Emissions LTs
Dual Catted 3" Y pipe
Borla Catback
Cutout

Fidanza Aluminum Flywheel
Ram Powergrip
LS1 Aluminum DS
10 Bolt w/ 4.10s

Just passed Ontario emissions on a base tune with flying colors other then curb idle which was close i had the idle cracked to about 1000rpm to make it run smoother and emissions equipment work harder.

Few guys running these style cams with a set of le2 heads (275cfm @ .600") and either running a big stall or m6 with upgraded rear sucking a bit of power. Neither have any emissions stuff and hit 390ish rwhp/360tq so roughly over 400 at the wheels. The way my torque curve is at so far im very pleased and rather give up a bit of hp if the tq stays the same or higher. I see no reason why it wouldnt pick up atleast another 20rwhp with the a/f set perfectly. All in all for such a baby cam its making awesome numbers in alot of cars and performs awesome on the street making power all throughout the powerband.

Re: My 355 short block pics

Still in the dyno tunning stages once my a/f is on the money ill be out at the track. Im expecting low to mid 12s with me as i still cant launch for **** trying to find the sweet spot. Id like to see a 11.9x pass eventually out of the setup when i get comfortable getting off the line.
