Muscle Sounds
Muscle Sounds
What gave the old muscle cars their sounds, did they have headers out of the factory or manifolds and if so was it just their cams, like my girl friend has a 71 camaro with a 307 i havent seen the motor yet everytime i look its dark outside but it sounds bad as hell when she starts it up and revs it, did that come with a killer sounding cam too or what?
A variety of things, alot of performance cars may have had slightly lumpy cams, dual exaust, and probably made less vacuum at idle and they are carbed. I find that even carb setup can effect idle sound, no lie.
You can buy a chambered muffler for under $100, that should make the car sound pretty wicked, if you like the Braxxton/69 Camaro type sound.

My hooker LT's will be here tomorrow and mufflers, im going to dump before the axle but still man it wild how it sounds i mean it wasnt even a 350 or 396 it was just a basic 307 and sounds mean as hell lol Im hoping i can achieve that sound with a stock cam
Well considering the 307 was the POS motor back in the day, you should easily be able to achieve its sound. Your car will have a noticeably smoother idle because its a roller as opposed to a flat tappet. Hooker LTs and dumps should make it sound MEAN
