putting the longtubes in was easier than trying to get the mufflex y-pipe on. the thing doesn't line up correctly, it hits the transmission crossbeam, it gets very close to the fuel lines, and it rests on the crossbeam going across the middle of the car.
how do you get it so it doesn't have to rest on that crossbeam, and how the heck do you get it to line up correctly? we've been adjusting the heck out of it. anyone got any pics of it installed?

I don't have any picks, but you're right on the money when you said these things suck. I had to entirely remove the cross member (convertible) and had to grind quite a bit of the brace that holds the tranny in place in order to salvage what little ground clearance I could. The best way to line it up, for me, was to get a rear end jack/brace to hold the y-pipe in place and then tighten the exhaust clamps. I've put this Y-pipe back in several times and that was the best method I could come up with.

ended up banging the crap out of the pipe with a big hammer and then dremmeling a huge chunk off the end of the tranny crossmember thing and then FORCING everything together...
it works, but my ground clearance SUCKS because the y-pipe goes way too far down, much more than it should have to, and i had to re-route my fuel lines.
that and the y-pipe sits on the metal crossbeam going across the middle of the car so the whole car vibrates like hell.

this topic comes up a lot,and still amazes me. it is a CUSTOM part,of course fitment wont be simple/easy.
It took a friend and I about 45 minutes to get my Y pipe on,ground off the outer edges on the tranny x member,and tucked it up as close as possible without hitting the floor.
Remember,these cars were NEVER meant to have longtubes or 3" pipes under them,and therefore a mass produced pipe will have shortcomings.
Yes you will have to modify things,yes it wont fit perfect,sure you "could" have 1 made,but most exhuast shops wont TOUCH a car without cats,and it will probably cost the same or use smaller pipe.

You can get a custom made Y-pipe for far less than what you would pay for a Mufflex of Stainlessworks Y-pipe.....plus you''ll know 100% that it'll fit. My y-pipe cost $185 with flanges at all ends.

Don't take this as an insult, but maybe its not on correctly? The first time I test-fit the mufflex y-pipe I thought I was in for a nightmare install, but then I realized I had one of the pipes upside down. After that it fit great. I did grind the crossmember so I could tuck it up under the car more and get some ground clearance back.

I've been saying it for a long time now. I 100% hate my Mufflex Y-pipe. The POS has given me NOTHING but problems.
They could have made it fit properly, not have bad ground clearance, and seal up nicely....and for the high cost of it, it SHOULD do all of this.
I'd like to see the new one Summit is offering. Any pics? Not for me (I have no money to change Y-pipes), but my roomate will be in need of one.
