The rasp from the flowmaster sounds awful
FLOWMASTER SOUNDS GREAT
LOL!

I just drove the car last night for the first time with the Flowmaster. I didn't drive it much with the Spintech but it seems a bit louder to me on the inside of the car with the Flowmaster. Might switch back to see if it was in my head or if it's real. Also, might have something to do with before I had the dual tips on there and now I have the down pipe. I'll try the Spintech with the down pipe and see how that sounds next

You can, in fact, have a muffler that muffles without restriction.

My car pulls 133 mph in the quarter and picked up NOTHING when I removed the 3" Hooker Aerochamber.

My last car gained 40 rwhp over a FlowMaster and 5 rwhp over open exhaust when I added an SLP straight-through muffler.

Pretty much anything with the straight-through design, such as the Dynomax Race mufflers, are good.

FlowMaster and SpinTech, though, are probably the worst 2 mufflers made as far as power production goes. You might as well put the stock muffler back on.

Don't tell me that!!!

That's not what I want to hear because those are the two mufflers that I have!

Well, supposedly on Spintech's site they dyno'd a Mustang I believe and it picked up about 10rwhp with the Spintech over some other muffler. Of course they would say that to sale their product but alot of people seem to like them.

Are they Dynomax Ultraflow's really good? I had a bullet and it was way to loud.

So, we have 2 - 370 rwhp cars that gained ~30 rwhp by removing a Spintech, and one that didn't gain anything?

Re: Mufflex 4" sound clips - Spintech/Flowmaster

Spintech sounds much better in person. Sounds to me that just about every crossflow design resticts horsepower. HERE's my input, it's just like asking 14 different mechanics about motor oil. Guess what? You'll get 14 different opinions. These forums are great if you don't mind ending up more confused than you started from time to time. I mean that with all do respect to everyone. However, Spintech isn't like the official muffler of Nascar for no reason. When it comes to power nothing is going to equal true duals. Spintech pro-street series is 4"x 6" x 12", thats room enough to put two side by side in the stock position and enter onone side and exit the other for both mufflers wich I'll prolly be doing.

Later,
Vicious

Re: Mufflex 4" sound clips - Spintech/Flowmaster

I would love to replace the Flowmaster on my Mufflex 4" setup. I called Dynomax and they do not make a 4" Ultra flow muffler, just the bullet style. The Ultra flow in the oval case would be my first choice if they made it in 4". What are some recomondations for a high flow 4" muffler, that wont be loud like a bullet style, I would love something on the quieter side.

Re: Mufflex 4" sound clips - Spintech/Flowmaster

I ran a 4in mufflex with a spintech. I made back to back comparisons, nothing changed, one pass I ran through the exhaust, the next pass I ran with the headers un-capped. I gained NOTHING, no MPH, no ET, no 60ft, was exactly the same. 11.08@121 here, through the muffler and open headers.

I believe Magnaflow makes a great flowing 4" muffler to put in place of what you already have...A few guys over at LS1tech have done it and the gains were actually quite nice...

Definitely look into that...

I've noticed that no1 has really opposed my crossflows make less power theory. What about true dual setups with either Flows or Spintech?

You should read my earlier post. My Hooker Aerochamber crossflow is not hurting my 550 rwhp application at all.

Re: Mufflex 4" sound clips - Spintech/Flowmaster

How about trying a 4" 10 series flowmaster race muffler? This is the single chamber muffler that flowmaster makes. I have these on my ls1 on a 2.5" true dual setup and love them. by the way, any of you out there have true duals with single chambers on a lt1? If so, pleasssssse post a sound clip.
here is a pic of the muffler.

Re: Mufflex 4" sound clips - Spintech/Flowmaster

Buddy of mine swapped the 4" Flowmaster off his Mufflex for a 4" Dynomax Ultraflow round. Car picked up hp with the straight-through muffler. IMO it sounded great, kinda like a race-bike.
