Just a dumb quick question that I can't help but ask....
I've searched my receipts and so forth and I can't figure out which series muffler came with my system. I have the Flowmaster American Thunder cat-back system...part # FLO17133. Is there any way to tell by looking at the exterior of the muffler itself?

I'm looking to put a quieter muffler on it, and I just don't want to buy the same muffler I already have.

80 series= single in, dual out, 2 chamber

40 series=single in, single out, 2 chamber i believe...........

 

I think the 80 series is actually a 3 chamber. Either way, the 1 in, 2 out made for 3rd and 4th gen F-Cars doesnt sound at all like a "Flowmaster" sound.

 

80 series is a 2 chamber, i have it, and it sounds badass............

 

okay...thanks for the replies guys....I'm just looking for something with a little more tame of a sound. I don't mind the loudness. I just don't like the raspiness mine has.

 

I especially love how they pop like glass packs, under downshifting. It does sound good under WOT, though!
