Which Muffler Flows more

Which of the two Mufflers flow more

Hooker Aero Chamber (3inch Cat back )

or

Dyno max Super turbo (3 inch Cat back Daul tail pipe "exit on left) Summit part number wlk-17406

The reason Why i am asking is that i have the Hooker cat back system on my cAr but i like the look of the daul left hand outlet of the Dyno Max system.
Below is an example of the system I want.

What's the point behind the whole OTL systems? Do people actually like just having one rear exit on their muscle cars? Do they out perform the 1 inlet 2 outlet mufflers?

Just curious...

From what I've heard the mufflers with exhaust exiting on one side will flow more than the split exhaust. I'm sure there's a reason that SLP has the 2OTL. It looks kinda odd compared to dual pipes on each side, but I'm pretty sure it flows better.

A muffler that enters on one side and both exit on the other will flow better. SLP knew that, so thats why the 96-97 SS upgraded exhaust had the SLP 2OTL. However very few actualy like that look.. if any at all.. I have the SLP 2OTL and even I'm not the biggest fan of it.. however it flows better so I'm not about to spend money on a new cat-back. So since many didn't like that look.. the 98+ SS upgraded exhaust recieved the "one on each side" to give the "true" dual exhaust look.

So it comes down to what you want.

Dual Exhaust look - get one on each side
Slightly better flowing - 2OTL

Look at the flow specs from Dynomax .
None of the single in/dual out mufflers flowed as well as a single in/single out ones.

There are no chambers or baffles or anything that the exhaust gasses pass through in the hooker muffler. The middle is just a big open chamber, with honeycomb stuff lining the outside, but the exhaust gasses dont pass through it. I don't see how it can flow any better than that.

Yea for the minute flow difference that MAY exist between the two, is it really worth having the ugly OTL exit?

The 17740 muffler in the dynomax kit flows 600cfm @ 20.3h2o.
The Hooker looks like a 17220 that flows 2200+cfm

How much flow do you need for a 400 hp car? Then again I can always use a cut out if i need the extra flow .... just looking for a different look becasue i like the 2 on one side look.

According to Dynomax you use horsepower x 2.2 = loss free air flow.
They say that muffler is good for 273hp

Where did you come up with those flow numbers? A 3" straight pipe doesn't even flow close to 2200 cfm.

I got that hooker Cat-Back and I thought it looked awfully restrictive too. The thing has to weigh over 30lbs too. The shipping weight on the entire Cat-Back weighed 62lbs. To me IMHO thats 30lbs of restrictness.

It does sound great though.

Ok here is the scoop on the Dnyomax TTOL system part # 17406. I was on the phone with a very nice tech this morning from Dynomax and she (yeah that’s right a girl who new her stuff… only if I new what she looked like I would have married her (LOL)) looked up the system I wanted to get.

The muffler only flows 600CFM (rated at about 300 hp.)

The System only fits the single cat cars (They do not build 3 inch I pipe for the dual cat car.)

They only system they have that will flow enough for my car would be the ultra flow type of muffler but they no long make it in a 1 in two on the left configuration any more (which was used on the ford trucks) So that means if i wanted a go flowing TTOL bolt on system I have to go to SLP and spen 400 buck

Which i am not about to do if there is nothing wrong with my Current cat back

I like the TTOL on the camaros and I am not sure why others diod not make systems like that ....
