Thumbs up Msd Opti Replacement

I have already said this on another web site, but worth repeating. MSD insider I know told me that they are working on one and should be out next summer. I would have replyed on the auto zone thread but it has 5 pages of replyes and didn't think most people would have read my reply thoroughly. Post on this thread to let MSD know that there is a valuable market for them on this part.

Hmm...How trustworthy is your 'insider'?
It would be cool though...

It's about time that somebody with well known in the ignition industry relized our need for quality. I hope that that they do make one and I'd buy it becuse that is a trusting name as far as ignition is concerned. I'm sure that they could do it better or at least make it last longer, that would work.

I could see a market before, but this has been hashed over a thousand times. Probably the only good solution is a coil pack setup with a cam sync stub to form the low-res pulse... but I can't see that as being a cheap or bolt on unit. All you're going to end up getting under a few hundred bucks would be an upgraded opti, and we've been there before. (Dynaspark)

For what it's worth I'll respond with a Hell Ya! Now lets see if MSD comes through with a good "Keep it Simple Stupid" idea so we can get on with our Hot Rod lives without constantly worrying about if our Opti is working.

I'd buy one when my opti goes (again) no doubt.

If true, pray it is not $600 like the Dynaspark.

Would this be just a distributor, or the whole 9 yards meaning you could get a MSD box, coil and the distributor all together?

If it was a definitive one-shot 100% elimination substitute for the Opti, I'd be all over that. Its just not worth dealing with the Opti. However, I agree, an improved Opti won't cut it. A good LTCC setup will cost near that, and you still use the Opti somewhat.

I'd be in on it. I'm on my second opti. MSD can do it no doubt, I just hope its true that they are really coming through for us.

since optis are under $200, and can have a lifetime warranty...............they will need something that completely replace the opti, and costs under $250 to really get me to buy it..................i would like that, but i doubt it will happen.

I've have friends of friends that work at MSD. I'll ask them if they know anything about it. I may even drop by and ask myself.
