MSD Opti Dowl Pin length diff in 94 and 95

Picked up a msd opti for my 94 and since it was completely vented like the 95 opti i have on the car now, i was just wondering if i have to change the lenght of the cam pin.

depends if it is spline drive(92-94 y-body/f-body), or pin drive(95-97 f-body, 94-96 b-body, 95-96 y-body)

the MSD optis will both be vented from my understanding, but they will be spline drive(for OE non vented apps) and pin drive(for OE vented apps)

I would assume the MSD opti that is driven by the cam dowel pin would be engineered to be exactly like the factory opti as far as clearances for such. It wouldn't make sense to do it any other way.

the last opti that i had put on was uped to a vented so its pin driven. but this is the first time i'm attempting this task on my own. i have to switch the opti out because i don't drive the car much and the opti on it now got condinsation in it and won't fire.

Can you please let us know if it is MSD part number 8381 or 83811. Where did you get the opti and how much.

Can you please clear up if it is the complete opti or just the cap and rotor that you will be switching out?

it is msd part number 8381 i picked it up from jegs, for about 150 bucks.
jegs calls it the rotor and cap kit, but what would be different for a complete opti?

If it is just the cap and rotor kit the part number would be 8481 or 84811 depends on if you bought it for a first or sencond gen style opti.

Yes the is different than a complete opti the complete opti offered by msd is almost completely different.

so since the part number was 8381 its the whole opti? it came in two piece (cap and rotor) with the vacum harness, and looks like a complete match to the opti thats on there now.

MSD Cap and rotor kit that you need to assemble and install

http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...1565&langId=-1

MSD billet opti that is assembled
http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...=egnsearch.asp

Think you just have your part numbers messed up somehow and for only $150 you are just going to get a cap and rotor not a complete new opti.

so, since it is the cap/rotor you ordered, I hope you don't have high/low res codes.....................
