The MSD 6AL is good box. Your stock HEI coil will work fine with it. Make sure and get the harness adaptor with it. I installed a MSD 6A on my imp. I will tell you thuogh that if you are getting it for a performance gain you are wasting your money. I run naturally asperated at the track and after I installed the 6A I saw no performance gains at all. They are good but not as a performance gain, but good for a multiple spark( 3 to 1) Good luck. Just my opinion and opinions are are like a##holes everone has one and they all uselly stink.

Are you running a A4 or M6 tranny? I can tell you from experience headers will not give the gain you think. The first mods I did were headers and a cat back exhaust on my imp. I gained maybe 25 hp and spent 1100 dollars. I installed a stall (2400 on a A4 trans) and 3.73's and gained a half a second or more. Gears and converter are the way to go. It will cost about the same vs longtubes (700.00 aprox) and you will be much happier with the results. Been there done that Good luck

I dyno'd my car after the 6AL install and can confirm NO gain. The factory stuff is pretty damn good. I wouldn't worry about an MSD until/if you ever get forced induction.

I saw no gain with mine either. The stock soil will work just fine with it. If you are looking for a HP increase I also vote to spend your money elsewhere. Only reason I have one is for the rev limiter and tach output.
