MSD Coil

I was reading through a thread and noticed that someone mentioned that MSD coils are not good and that they can fry your opti. Is this true?? I have had a MSD on my car for about a year now and have had no problems, but if there is a chance of frying the opti then I am going to take it off. Thanks

Re: MSD Coil

ok good. I havent had a problem with mine since I put it on. Actually the car is running better. I just didnt want a 50 dollar part to ruin a 300 dollar part. LOL

Re: MSD Coil

The higher voltage of the MSD coild can cause arcing inside the opti. But if you don't have any issues so far you'll probably never have to worry about it. I developed a miss when I put the MSD on and it disappeared once I switched back to an OEM replacement. What the real issue was, I'm not sure, but I plan on switching to a Delteq system over the winter and won't have to worry about it.
