Msd 6al ?

Hey, I've got a chance to buy a brand new MSD 6AL for $125. Ive heard that the stock system on the 96-97 LT1 is just fine. Is it worth the $125 to upgrade it ?

Thanks

If you plan on running nitrous the 6AL takes away spark instead of fuel like the factory rev limiter. You hit the factory limiter while running nitrous=lack of fuel=possible new engine.

i think it is worth it. many will argue about the gains but i think it was a worthwhile mod. maybe on a bone stock engine there would be no need but if you have mods or especially nitrous it is well worth it.

I have a few mods , ported heads with bigger valves and a Comp Cams XE 230/236 Camshaft. For that price I think i'll go for it

If you are serious about a Vortec later, don't buy the 6AL. You'll need a different MSD product with the supercharger.
