Re: Mr.Gasket header gaskets
I use Fel Pro gaskets that I've bought at Autozone. Probably be about the same price once you figure shipping in from Jeg's and I"ve never had a problem with mine at all. You could smear a little RTV around the ports for some added security if you're worried.
Re: Mr.Gasket header gaskets
shipping from jegs is free, either way is it worth it to spend about the extra 10 dollars on the copper? like i said im trying to be very conservative yet not stupid...
Re: Mr.Gasket header gaskets
I tried those Mr Gasket Copper gaskets when i first installed my headers and they didn't seal at all. I switch to felpro's a few weeks ago and everything look good so far.
Re: Mr.Gasket header gaskets
I say go with the Mr. Gasket copperseal and locking bolts. The paper gaskets seal up good, but don't seem to last more than a year or two. Plus once a small leak starts it burns out the gasket and you have to remove the headers, scrape, and replace em. I've had the same set of copperseals for a tad over 4 years now, and I've put em on several other vehicles too. Once in a while a small leak shows itself, just tighten back down and they seal again. Even if you tear down the engine for rebuild, or remove a header to access something, I don't see why you'd ever need to replace em.
They don't seem to seal right away though, you have to cycle them a few times. Torque the bolts, run up to temp and let cool, torque again. Do this 2-3 times then torque em down warm, I leave the locks out for like a week tightening the bolts every few days, then install the locks and no leaky headers. They don't take alot of torque, just "wrist-tight" with a small wrench each time.

Best you can get! I will never, ever use anything less than Percy's. I used Flepro 1406s and when I lost a stage 8 clip, the bolt backed out and the the gasket was toast. Never again. At least with these, if a bolt backs out you can simply retorque it and not have to replace the gasket. FYI, Autozone has them for the same dough.
Re: Mr.Gasket header gaskets
I use the mr gasket ultra seal gaskets. They are cheap, and have a metal core. They kick *** in my opinion! Like I said, they were cheap, and they work awesome. I got mine from Summit Racing. I don't know if you can reuse them, my first guess would be no, but I have not had to take my headers off to find out.

Re: Mr.Gasket header gaskets
no matter what people on here tell you, there is not going to be just one set of gaskets that have never failed anyone. Every header gasket has failed. There is no "eternal" gasket. For example the design of the percy's seems really great, yet they failed on me. I have had the best luck with the Felpro 1406 sprayed with copper seal, and 1" long ARP header bolts.
The bolts is were people go cheap. If the bolts back out, any gasket is gone. Make sure you use ARP 1" long bolts and heat cycle them. Bolt them in (from center bolts work your way out) Example cylinder's 3 and 5, than 1, 7. After you heat them up, let them fully cool, and then retighten. This will cause them not to back out. Dont waste your time on those silly stage 8's.

Re: Mr.Gasket header gaskets
Fel-pro 1406 here and no leasks.
I did not use any spray sealer.
If I do encounter a leak and have to replace I will try the copper sealer.
