Why not go inside? I would imagine weather would take its toll on the insulation. Just run it through the side panels, then under the carpet by the door, then through a rubber grommet in the firewall.

There are a LOT of NHRA sanctions on batteries in the passenger cabin. Might want to look at all the safety stuff if you are planning on running at NHRA tracks. Its not as cheap as just buying the cable.

Hey if anybody knows much about the rules jump in here, I moved it to the back, but theres no way to see the battery, if you look at the site in my sig you can see what I mean (another wood plate/cover goes in that big gap). The battery is not sealed or vented or anything, Im not worried about that, but I do want to run at the track, how will they know one way or the other.

To my knowledge, the battery has to be sealed and vented to the outside, if it is open to the cabin (ie hatchback ). You also have to have a way to disconnect the battery from outside the car. Before you run at the track, they have an inspector look at your ride to make sure everything meets regulations. Price, and inconvience (no room for t-tops, outside switch, etc) is keeping me from doing it.

I know it has to be straped down, sealed box, with a vent tube running to outside the car. May be some more....

If you are running test and tune you will more than likely be ok. If you ever get into tournaments and stuff, i would be more worried.

I have my battery in the back, and to run at a track you need proper box, and proper cut off switch. I used moroso box and flaming river cut off switch. There is a lot more to it, but they will check. Swtich needs to shut down everything.

You need an NHRA approved box and external kill switch. The battery needs to be secured down. The box needs to be covered. It needs to be vented to the outside. You may also want a more powerful battery than the stock unit to make up for signal loss.

the battery will give off very nasty chemical fumes while charging that you may or may not smell. these fumes are very very very bad for you, especially exposed for long periods of time.

You do not need to vent the battery box if you have a sealed battery. I use a Optima Red Top for the battery and it works great and I didn't need to vent it becuase the battery is sealed.
