Question Motors Coming Out

Well I have all of the wiring harness taken out minus the 2 plugs that go down to the tranny. Y-pipe is off with the exhaust, and radiator and basically the whole front of the engine. I have a couple of questions though....

Whats the best way to get the motor out of the car? I'm working on pulling it out of the botom, but how do you get the car up high enough to roll the engine out.

I counted 6 subframe bolts, please let me know if thats right or not

Where to disconnect the brake lines so the subframe can come down.

And any other tips or tricks that you have plese let me know.

I should have some pics tomorrow, but most of you guys know what it looks like LOL

You can easily do it with good quality floor jacks or an engine hoist connect to the body. You may have to take the air dam off the bottom in order to clear the intake. I had to at least. It depends on what you use to roll the K-member/engine out with. Some have used a furniture dolly with great success. You will have to disconnect (I think) two harnesses from inside the car and feed them through the firewall on the passenger side. Place the PCM on the intake with the cluster of harness connectors before jacking up the car. Make sure to get your ABS connectors off as well.

Correct.

At the ABS block. I can't remember exactly which ones, but you can easily trace them. It may be a bit of a PITA to get it loose and you are most likely guaranteed to distort the flare nut a bit, but it's the best way to get the brake lines off.
And any other tips or tricks that you have plese let me know.

Thanks man, only thing is that I already disconnected my whole engine harness LOL, but thats ok, its the first time I have delt with an LT! so it was a good learning experience.

I started working on it at about 7pm and have everything done except shift linkage, driveshaft, tranny wires, steering linkage, abs wires, and brake lines. There might be a couple more little things, but I finished up on it at about 11pm and got basically everything done and labled all of the wires by myself in that time frame and I was working slow and bagging nuts and bolts and labeling them so I don't have the "extra" parts LOL

Hopefully tomorrow the motor and tranny will be out and I might have time to tear the motor down but I'll have to wait and see.

Thanks again for the link, I'm going to be building a cradle like that now

Cool deal. Just FYI... all connectors except for injector connectors (which are numbered so no worries there) are exclusive... meaning each one will only plug into it's correct location. Just FYI in case one of the labels comes off.
Lots of bolts and work!

Yeah I know that they can only go one place, but that will help me find the place where they go LOL

I wasn't able to drop the motor yesturday, so I will have to wait until next weekend to get it done, but for now I'm ordering my new parts . And believe it or not the only thing that I had to use PB Blast on was the steering knuckle, and the car is a Illinois/Wisconsin car so I'm really happy about that LOL
