Motor Swap: LT1 to LS1

Hi, i own a '93 Z28 and want to upgrade the LT1 to a LS1. Are there any other parts i would have to change to make this swap? Thanks.

the major things i know about is the PCM and harness (including by-passing the VATS), k-member and transmission. i'm pretty sure there are a bazillion things you need. it's quite an expensive and laborus endeavor. what's the reason for the swap?

I believe the fuel system will have to be changed as well. The LS1 setup is returnless i believe. The best thing to do is just by a wrecked LS1 car so you can take everything off of it you'll need.

If starting with something other than an LT1 then the swap might be worthwhile. These days though with the parts available for an LT1 please reconsider. For the price of the swap you could do a lot to an LT1, much more than enough to make it better than the stock LS1 you would have replaced it with, and LT1 parts tend to be cheaper.

Oh no! Not another LS1 wannabe! The LT1 is amazing really. I went way past the expectations I had with little 192cc runner Lingenfelters. Heck, I'm just getting started. I have only had 6 passes with the new converter.

build up the LT1 or a GENI engine it would be cheaper and would make more power then a stock LS1 unless you swap a built LS1.

i think if i keep my pile on wheels i will eventually opt for a genI small block so i can go w/ a whole lot more CID. either that or if the LS7 becomes cheaper that my be an alt. route.

trust me i'm happy w/ what i'm doing right now... i was just thinking on the keyboard if/when i get tired of this up and coming combo.
my ultimate goal is to have my car house an engine w/ over 400cid. i just wish Dart would make an aftermarket LT1 that you could bore the **** out of.

Why? Because of reliability? As long as the cooling system is upgraded as well it should be ok on the street.

I think he was referring to the solid rollers. With new lobe designs and better lifter designs, the solid roller can live on the street. Just don't get too crazy with valvespring pressures. I'm running 215 on the seat and .014/.016 lash. You can hardly hear the cam at all.
