Motor mounts, Tighten now or later?

I am putting my motor back together finally. Do I tighten my motor brackets that go on the motor now or do I wait until it is in the car? It seems there is some play in the brackets when they are loose and I don't know if they will line up when I throw it in. What did you guys do. Thanks....john

I leave the bracket on the passenger side off and on the mount in the car, it just worked out easier for me that way. But I tightened it on the drivers side.

I put my motor in bout a month ago. Tighten the mounts to the block, install the engine and put the bolts and nuts on the frame mounts. Leave em loose. I tightned mine up and when I installed the trans. i couldnt get the trans. mount to line up with the crossmember. Loosened the motor mount bolts (long ones) and it lined right up. My .O2

I always have mine torqued to the block first. Have someone drop it down while you wait with the bolt. I always do the pass. side first because it seems to drop quicker, and then when that one is through use it as a pivot point and drop the driver side into place and put that bolt through.
