motor mounts- how the he!!...

how the hck do you replace the motor mounts on a 94 z28?? passengerside i got the two small bolts out that hold the support bracket for the mounts. can't get the big bolt to come out. have a wrench on one end and a long a$$ extension with a racket on the other and still no luck. driverside i can't get to anything.. i read in a post to just jack up on the tranny pan alittle to raise the tranny. thats what i did- yes i used a wood block- pan is fine. driverside you have one bolt from the bracket and the mount right on top off each other.... help.........

[QUOTE=flusz28]passengerside i got the two small bolts out that hold the support bracket for the mounts. QUOTE]

there are 3 bolts on each bracket, you missed one

you must already know this since you are changing them, but the mount-to-block bolt sitting down on or close to the big through bolt on the drivers side mount means that your mounts are worn out and sagging. the through bolts will come out easily if you put the right about of lifting pressure on the engine with the jack. what you are doing wrong is you are jacking on the trans pan instead of the engine oil pan. jack a little on the oil pan with a block in between and you will find the bolts come out easily. also jacking up on the engine will raise the bolt on the block on the driver's side up so that you can then get a socket onto the large through-bolt

no, do not unbolt the trans mount. that is what will keep the engine from moving forwards or backwards when you have the motor mounts unbolted
