motor mount install?
motor mount install?
What's needed for a motor mount install? I know that I have to get the car on jackstands, and then lift the motor by the oil pan with a jack at least an inch or two..
from there on, what do i need? Will a basic socket set with extensions suffice? I've never changed motor mounts, hell, I don't even know what they really look like.. but I got them coming today and I have to install it on saturday.
any tips, help, suggestions, would be greatly appreciated! pictures and diagrams, if anyone has some, would really help..

For me swapping motor mounts was a nightmare. What i ended up using is about 3 feet of extensions to get the passenger side from the top along with a couple of swivel joints. Besides that the only thing that will really help ya is some skinny arms. Goodluck.

doh! how powerful does the drill have to be? I have a ryobi electric drill, but i don't know how powerful it is.... hmm.
well i guess i'll figure it out. thanks for the tips guys.
(also, one motor mount is smaller than the other.. which goes to which side?)

Its very straigthforward. Having two people is a real treat because you'll need to jack the motor up just enough to release the pressure on the motor mount thru-bolt. You'll see what I mean when you start working on them.
Do one at a time.
For the passenger side you might need to pull the steering linkage - Makes thing easier.
Good luck. You'll start pulling the motor mounts for other installs once you realize how easy it is. However, the first time it wasn't fun
.
Good luck!

thanks for the replices, everyone!
The most i've done on my car was the cam and 1.6rr install.. and that was pretty straightforward since I had a good idea of what I was removing and installing..
but I don't even know what the motor mounts look like, so I'm a bit nervous, to say the least.
Hopefully I can get it all done by tomorrow night. Thanks again, guys!
