motor mount..

not sure if this is the right place to post this or not, but anyway..
found out one of my motor mounts cracked and needs replaced, was just gonna do both of them while i have the engine up, but i want to know what you think... right now i'm looking at Energy performance motor mounts (about 28.99 per).. what i'm wondering is if anyone knows if they're any good, or what i should look at.. the engine is a 5.7l lt1. thanks

Edit: -- also, if you know a good performance torque arm that would fit a 94 camaro z28 w/ 4l60e with 3.73 gears i would appreciate it, the one i currently have is starting to go bad.

So did u get the not shifting problem handled? Or maybe it wasn't u? Idk. Any how energy suspension motor mounts are what I run, had to replace mine right after I got the car. They seem to be very durable, I know a few people that swear by their products, torque arm bushings, sway bar bushings, they are a lot better than factory imho. So u said that your torque arm was going bad? Or is it just the bushing where it connects to the tranny? There's lots of good after market pieces out there, some are just like factory as far as mounting, some u have to install support brackets and they don't connect to the back of the tranny. I like the BMI version,(think it's BMI) it's tubular, adjustable, poly bushings, and it's one of the ones that is not connected to the back of the tranny, in my mind this is y that's better, long torque arm more susceptible to movement, more force working against it, and y put that much pressure to the tailshaft of the trans? Shorter means stronger, and not putting all the energy transmitted through the torque arm to the tranny, it feels like it's more stable to me, but I have lots of other suspension stuff done too. Hope this helps

Just make sure you replace both.
I have a BMR TUBULAR K-MEMBER and it has one polyurethane mount built in it and.
I have not changed other stock rubber mount and it feels like I get more vibration because I don't have both polyurethane mounts.
So I think it's a good idea to change both at the same time.
I would not do the trans mount in the polyurethane that's where a lot of people are having problems with vibrations after they put that kinda of mount in.
I put the polyurethane transmission mount in and got all kinds of vibrations from it.
I took it out and put a stock replacement back in.

There ya go bmr, man I'm tarded @ times, that's the first I'm hearing of the tranny mount issue, but there's an old trick that I read out of a magazine, before u install the new trans mount put a hose clamp around it and tighten it down, it give the mount a more solid feel without transmitting the harsh vibrations through the drive train. And yes I forgot to say do both not just one motor mount. But as I said, I haven't heard anything about the trans mount being problematic. So use ur judgment there, while u r doing the motor mounts, inspect the trans mount, if it looks bad or even if your not sure replace it. There are many different companies that sell stock or oem replacements or polyurethane, they even sell solid mounts, (don't use this in a street car). imho always err on the side of caution, and yes thank u BMR is definitely what I meant, sorry it's been a long night/day. But if he's runnin a 383 and says oe style trans mount, I'd listen to him. Sorry for the confusion

ya it helps, thanks.. and no, it's still not shifting into 4th gear.. i'm pretty sure 4th is shot though.. oh well though.. has 85k miles on the car and tranny.. engine only made it to 81k before i had to replace that.. was just hopin tranny would last a little longer til i got the engine and car paid off.. the guy before me treated this car like crap..suprised the body was in as decent of shape as it was. I'll take a look at the BMR website the other guy had posted. When i was pulling the tranny (to remove motor through bottom) we had to disconnect the torque arm, and generally they lift up after you loosen them(according to what the mechanic helping me said).. the one on my car didnt lift up at all (didn't even end up needing the thing we had it tied down with)

The torque arm lifts up when u disconnect it from the tranny depending on a couple of things, did u have the car up in the air and didn't have the rearend supported, then I think it would go up, if we're talking about the same thing, the torque arm is bolted to the rear diff, then it runs along side the drive line to the tailshaft of the trans. So what ever the rearend does after u un bolt it from the trans would be what dictates what the arm does. I'm just trying to figure out how a torque arm can be bad, it's stamped metal with a bushing @ one end and bolts and washers hold it to the rearend. Hmm, couldn't have weighed enough to keep the rearend level, nothing was supporting the rearend? Nothing between the torque arm and the floor pan of the car bracing it? Cause it's the movement of the rearend, changing the angle of it's geometry that sholud make the torque arm move. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, wouldn't be the first time, and lord knows I don't know every thing about these cars, but that just strikes me as odd. I'll get back to u on that, oh and if u decide to get another tranny, please let me know, um better yet I'll pm u some info this afternoon if u don't mind. Ttyl
