Motor from Autozone

do you guys think a motor from autozone is worth the moneyl. it is $1800 with a $600 core charge. it is an LT1. it has 3 year 100,000 mile warranty. do you guys think this is worth the money? or should i stay away from this. it is a long block with the heads and everything. the only thing is i would have to reuse my intake.

That sounds like a good deal for a long block... my only concern would be what hardware was used. Ask them what bearings and rings were used.

I would probably be inclined to steer away from it. I'm sure it has not been rebuilt with one of the better rebuild kits on the market. Just my two cents though.

I worked for AutoZone

The only things they re use are the block and heads. They true up both before building the motor up.

The internal parts of the engine are new and meet OEM specs meaning they are not forged. Really it’s cheaper to get that crate motor then to pay someone to rebuild your motor.

AutoZone reconditions many parts like alternators, calipers, water pumps (some not all), engines, master cylinders, etc. The parts are meant to be stock replacement and affordable. If you want performance its better to have a shop build up your motor or buy one of the performance motors from a supporting vendor of this site.

For $1800 you can't go wrong for a daily driver or a project with a motor swap.

Wish they did a better job of it. It's not much fun replacing an alternator 3 times in 4 months. Atleast they have a lifetime warranty.

Just alittle tidbit. I just went to autozone.com and entered that i had a 96 grandsport and they're quoting me 2498 for an LT4 with an 800 core.

Tell em you have a grandsport and send them back an lt1. They're never know the difference.

I punched in a 94 vette and it shows a rebuilt LT1 with 4 bolt mains for $1622.

If you're looking for a stock rebuild that seems like a great deal, esp. with the warranty.
