Re: Most lift on stock springs?

This is a question that should not even be asked, they are not great springs and these are not new cars. So what you have is springs OK for a stock cam when new that are now 7+ years old, pushing their lift limits now will result in float. A set of LT4 springs will get you more lift capacity a little more pressure and I think they cost a whole $35 a set, those are still not going to be any good for many of the popular cam choices but should be OK with a stock cam and higher ratio rockers. If worried about the trouble of a spring swap on the LT1 it is not that bad, bring the piston to TDC and the valves only fall a quarter inch at most meaning you do not need air to hold the valves up.

I agree, springs dont cost that much and it will give you something to do for a while. But i beleive my answer was still correct.

Most lift that you should ever apply on stock springs is stock. Dont touch anything unless you get rid of the springs for something stronger.

i found it on a fiero site, .490 is the highest rated lift. i was just trying to find out cause i came across a set of 1.7 RR's that i figured i could invest in...but i think ill be saving the spring swap for when i do heads/cam. thanks for the input.
