Mod's Needed To Beat LS1???

Hi, I am new to the board and to the LT1 engine. I used to own a 2001 WS6 M6, and now own a 1995 Z28 M6.

What mods would it take to beat a stock SS or Ws6 LS1? I miss my LS1 and would like to start modding my car to help me forget about my WS6. I have a magnaflow exhaust and SLP intake on the way. What other mods would I need to take out the MIGHTY LS1.

Thanks
-JC

Well most LS1's run mid 14's way up here. With a 3200 stall converter, 3.73's, CAI and catback, I ran a 13.9 in my 97.

Headers and hotcam and I ran a 13.3 with some serious valve float.

Depends....get a CAI, headers and gears and try that out. If you aren't there yet, get a cam and your heads done.

Don't forget the suspension....those low 60's will kill your ET on the track or the street.

Headers, Catback, CAI, and LT4 Hotcam and you'll easily walk a stock LS1...perhaps even a mildly modded one.

Thanks Alot For Your Help. I figured I would need the basic bolt ons plus a cam to keep up with those ls1's.

Has anyone else had good success against the LS1's with their setups.

most stock LS1's are capable of mid-low 13's with a decent driver, and an even slightly modified one with a good driver will pull 12's. Thats pretty much full bolt on territory unless you want to get into changing rear ends and going for traction.

Headers, exhaust, CAI, stall/clutch, gears, and maybe RR's and you should be right with them. Throw in a cam and you should smoke most lightly modded LS1's. The good news is if you open up and start getting into heads/cam its anyones game.

I beat my roommates 99 SS M6 all day long! LOL Most LS1's I see run 13.4 - 13.8. Of course you get some freaks that are faster, and some that are slower. But my car still beats MOST stock or lightly modded LS1's.

From what I hear Most LT1's will take LS1's till about 60 mph with equal drivers due to our low end tq. But after 60 they start walking us. What mod's would improve our High end PULL?

when I was bone stock with a catback, I was able to keep up with my friend's 2000SS, nose to nose, with neither of us gaining, up to about 50-60mph, then he'd start walking me.

After the hotcam (but no headers or cai), an exhaust leak at the collector, and badly adjusted rocker arms, and NO traction off the line (and the wheels also broke loose as the rpms hit 5k), I was nose to nose with my friend's SS to about 90mph - then we let off. If we ran it up to 130 or 140 I'm sure I would have been right by him.

Now with the exhaust leak fixed, headers on, bigger ypipe on, and offroad pipe on it, with a CAI, I should be able to walk him pretty hard.

I say you first go for headers, intake, get a cutout, then go for a hotcam, or if you have th emoneyt o do some headwork, go for a larger cam with some ported heads. That'll let you smoke LS1s easy.

I use to get walked by my friend with a 99 Z28 loudmouth exhaust. After a few mods that i have in my sig i walk him now. From a 40mph roll to 120mph i have right at 2 cars on him. There some strong ****'s. Nothin a teenie weenie bit of laughin gas cant stop. I would do it wil just a cam though. A cam, Header, CAI LT1 shuold walk a stock and mildy bolt on LS1 all day.
