Mobil 1 Fully Synthetic OK?

I'm going to put that in the next oil change I have. Also, I will have a new oil pan gasket on there..so that should help.

Anybody use this? Or have opinions on it?

I have Mobil One in my transmission and rear end. I had it in the motor but currently I'm running Royal Purple. No problems at all.

I was planning on getting the Royal Purple...but my buddy was the one paying for it(he owed me a favor) and he picked up the Mobil 1.

Mobil 1 has been known to find leaks. I switched a few years ago and was a quart low within a week. I then switched back to conventional and haven't lost a drop since. Some guys switch and don't have a problem. All you can do is try it and keep an eye on it.

im runnin Mobil 1 15-50. keeps my oil pressure higher and provides better protection against friction. plus with the oil being that heave it shouldnt find leaks too well lol

And of course you haven't asked yourself, "why this might be?"

"The blind leading the blind" This is a very heavy oil even for an N/A race motor. And I would not recommend you use it for any street/strip combo. Unnecessarily high oil pressure only robs your engine of power.

Higher viscosity oils have higher, not lower, internal friction.

Believe that if you wishbut it's bunk.

Synthetic does not create leaks or make leaks suddenly get worse. Folklore my friend.

With that said, there is no reason why you can't switch to fully synthetic (or part synthetic). The proof is in the pudding...synthetic protects better than conventional oil over longer periods and higher/lower temperatures. You just need to decide if the added cost is worth it.

As for me...my 96 has never seen anything but Mobil 1. It's cheap insurance as far as I'm concerned.

That is all I've been using since the day I took ownership of the car. I haven't had any complaints about it.

I ran factory weight Mobil1 from the first change in my car, but I'm switching to German Castrol.

My understanding is that due to the cleaning properties of some oils, if gaskets or seals are in bad shape etc., and have only been sealing due to a buildup of gunk, it is possible to experience some leaking after changing to a synthetic oil.

I had this issue. I switched to Royal Purple (mostly because I saw how
poorly Mobil 1 did in the "oil report"), and havent lost a drop.

Strange, indeed.

I bought the car and the owner had been putting in M1 syn 10w-40. So I followed suit. No leaks.
