Mine did the same thing at about 70,000 miles. It sounds like the optispark is getting moisture on it. Mine did the same thing when I took it to the car wash. I got my optispark changed and fixed the problem. Maybe that will help.

try checking the simple things first, loose plug wires, spark plugs ( I found a cracked plug insulator on # 1 plug once, low rpm miss)
ALSO look under hood at night in as little light as possible, you may be able to see arching from plugs/wires/coil/ to block if so replace that item first ( cheap!!) i had taken apart the opti twice before finding wire arching wire - to - block . this will save time and aggravation, opti not to easy access .

Hey, I had a simmilar problem. One day out of no where my car started missing and running real bad and if I got it started it would backfire and miss and pop. If I shut it off it would not start back up. I put new plugs and wires and 02 sensors in it. That did nothing. It ended up being the opti. Replaced that and now it runs great. Try everything else mentioned above because the opti is both expensive and is a pain to take out and reinstall. Good luck
