Question Missed Shift help

So yes, I missed a shift on my stock M6 '96 Z...........went from redline 3 into 2 I believe........instantly hit the clutch when it happened, heard a loud clunking from the bottom of the car........it was like a 2 second period of noise and it felt like the front was slowing while the back was pulling, the front wheels hopped a few times, but I didn't hear the classic ovverrevving noise, the clunk then more grinding.....

The mustang I was racing got behind me and said he saw some smoke come from under my car, no idea what color as it was nighttime.....

The car is running fine, no problems apparent...yet, it had a very slow engine oil leak before and is leaking faster now....but I had to get that fixed anyway.....I'm guessing maybe the jarring accelerated it and the smoke was from oil that had leaked....?

Anyway, it's entirely possibly I bent my pushrods or something, the engine has 138000 miles on it. Even if I did will it still run decent for another 20000 miles? I plan on rebuilding the motor this winter regardless and I'm wondering if it will be good until then?

Any help's greatly appreciated!

Cheers
Adam

haha that sucks, It shoulden't have hurt anything as long as you didn't rev up to high. Is the engine making any new clicking noises?

I would guess that the smoke was from the tires, because when you miss a shift like that your tires lose traction with the road , and when that happens you get smoke.

well, first thing you should probably is find out where that leak is coming from.

Accidentally downshifting like that is a good way to spin bearings.

i busted the finger things off my clutch on a missed shift like that. well it wasnt that directly but the next time i went and launched it hard the clutch just fell apart. it was no good. i am 90 percent sure that thats a prlbme that could arise from that.
