Minimal guideplate wear after about 1500 miles now..

All my guideplates look OK, not really too worried, but this is the only one that gave me a little concern.. other than that they're all nice and straight.. obviously the pushrod is shined up from contact, but that's it.

Thoughts? Just keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't get worse and that it's just settled here?

its prolly settled. i put mine in about 8k ago and sorry to admit i havent checked them since...plus i spin it to 7k...might not be a good thing...id say its fine as long as the pushrod isnt worn...might try to notch it minutely(sp) because im sure its still barely touching(because it can never wear past where it travels) in other words it has no clearence or very small at some point

I had that amount on all of mine plus one certain slot that was far far worse in about 3K miles. All of that missing metal was now in my engine which led to worn cam bearings at 78K miles.

I personally believe that any guide plate wear PERIOD is abnormal cause its is never normal for any part to wear off metal like that. If you are lucky you wont have problems but if I were you I would address the problem.

Could be bad rocker geometry or wrong size push rods, that was my problem. Or you can go with the Isky hardened guide plates. I actually case hardened my new GM's myself and they dont show the slightest blemish after 2K miles.

Again any missing guide plate material is now in your motor and the cam bearings will be the first to get damaged.

Yea make sure you watch it and possibly just use a file to clearance it a little. But if you have those miles on it and nothing major has happened then i think you will be safe.

Pushrods are the right length. I checked geometry, rechecked, and triple checked It's just that one.

I think I'll just keep an eye on them after a few more hundred miles to see if there's any change.
