Might buy used SLP headers, need advice

I think i have found a good deal on some used slp headers. The fellow selling them says they are from his dual cat 96 ss.

My 97 is dual cat, so i assume they should fit. They are emmissions style headers(which i need)

My real question is about the y-pipe. I am told my stock y-pipe will work. Is this correct. Are the headers worth it useing my stock y-pipe?

THey are not coated, but stainless steal, i assume they should last right?

Yep, they fit the stock Y pipe. You should get them coated, as they throw off a lot of heat into the engine compartment. I had them on my last bird and they were about as good as you can get and still be emissions compliant.

I had some too. The coating doesn't seem to last very long though. I've never tried other coatings though so... Go with a jet hot coating I think those will last longer. They quoted me $143 bucks roughly awhile back. Not to bad. hth

Ya they work pretty good especially with a Random dual cat ypipe.
My current TPiS Longtubes setup makes only a little more power.

I got some coated by Jet-Hot. I eventually plan to step up to Longtube headers from Hooker, but if you have emissions, and have to get shorties, I highly recommend them. I could tell a pretty good difference.
