in middle of head/cam swap have question
Ive taken everything off the top, front, and sides of the engine and all thats left except the heads is the Large accessory bracket on the passenger side along with the AC compressor, and the Power steering pump is hanging in place, but not bolted
I was able to unbold the top two accessory bracket bolts in back of the PS pump, so theoretically nothing is bolted to the head anymore. The bracket also does not interfere with removal of the timing cover i dont think.
Can I leave the AC Compressor and the accessory bracket bolted to the engine, or will i have to remove it later anyway when I go to swing everything out the way to put the cam in?

Re: in middle of head/cam swap have question
the bracket is not in the way. the a/c can stay in, but the freon will have to be let out anyway when you pull the condesor and radiator assembly. i have seen ways to swing the condensor out of the way still keeping it connected, but it's a pita. pay the extra and have it recharged.
Re: in middle of head/cam swap have question
Its not hard at all to swing the condensor out of the way. Just have someone help you hold it up while sliding the cam out and back in. You will have to pry slightly on the passenger side head to get it past the bracket. There is a slightly raised area that gets hung on the plug on the passenger side head.
Re: in middle of head/cam swap have question
I have always tried to remove things instead of working around them. Yes it is do-able with those items in place. But sometimes it just isn't worth the headache if something doesn't work out. I'd yank the bracket and condeser but that's just me.
