Re: Mgw Shifter for LT1
IMHO any aftermarket shifter is better than the stock Tremac one.
I bought the Hurst Pro Billet back in 05 when I got my "new" T56. Never even used the new stock shifter when I did my A4-T56 swap.
The Hurst is a nice unit and has "stop" bolts you initially adjust and set on 1st installation. After 11 years now it feels just like new, no "slop". FWIW I have never missed a shift in it including several hundred 1/4 mi passes.
From just "pictures" the MGW base looks similar to Hurst but MGW has a pivoting bracket for shift arm allowing different stick orientation placement in the console if that is what some feel is needed over the fixed Hurst stick.

Re: Mgw Shifter for LT1
I have an SLP shifter in my car....the gold colored one. Works perfectly and I never miss third gear either. I'd amend the OP's statement to state that just about any aftermarket short throw shifter is a must have for an FBody. Or a corvette. Or a GTO.
