Meziere - HD vs Reglar specs w/in

EDIT: Regular...maybe I should proof read...

Called Meziere today and spoke with Jay. According to him, the flow ratings are:

~42gals/minute for the regular
~49-52gals/minutes for the HD

He said that they advertise the regular pump at 35gals/min, but its closer to 42. He speculates that the HD version would last longer than the regular - by how much, he didn't say. My HD Meziere lasted 3.5 years/50k miles.

Nice point about the Meziere - it has a weephole to keep the coolant from destroying the electronics once the pump/seal itself goes bad. Not sure if the CSI has this, but I didn't think so.

Nice info Ryan. I only have about 4K on my CSI...Im not looking forward to the day it decides to go without notice. Did you have any warning when yours went?

PDM: Started losing coolant (glad I replaced the low coolant light when it went out instead of just unplugging it ). Was losing it fairly slowly initially, but after about a week I was losing ~1quart everytime I drove to work.

Can you verify that the CSI does or does not have a weephole?

No weephole on the CSI.
And the weephole sure helped my 2 week HD pump from destroying it. I couldn't stress how glad I was that I "saved the electronics"..... picture here.

The point isn't that you "saved the elctronics," rather its that the pump didn't immediately stop working. Would you rather it had just completely stopped working? The weephole gives you some warning - like a normal mechanical pump.

Its obvious that was a defective pump. I've seen you post your bad experience before. Did you give them a chance to fix the pump and make things right?

Well, I'm an Electrical Engineer and I know about the electronic part of it. You obviously didn't get my sarcasm though.
A friend of mine that bought his at the same time with me had the other problem. The electronics just died but the weephole didn't leak anything at all. That was at the same time when mine died. Coincidence? I don't think so.
When I first posted about this, tons of people replied with the same experiences.

Their customer service SUCKS and their product could be better. That's all I'm going to say about it.

PS. Oh yes, and I agree with the person above. I built the circuit showing pump failure and ground failure in case it ever happened, so I wasn't too worried about it dying suddenly. Plus I constantly watch my temperature gauge too.

Sounds like a bad batch. Not going to make excuses for them. I'd be upset too. btw...I got your sarcasm, thanks.

What did they say/do/offer when you called about it?

Cool .

I'm not understanding why you're so chapped about this deal. No one is going to be happy about getting a bad part, but what is the real problem? Did they tell you 'tough luck' when you called?

I wouldn't tell someone your tuning SUCKS w/o explanation. We've done business before and you seemed like a nice guy. There must be more to this story.

Well, let's just say it took me posting on this board and raising a lot of dust until (xxxx Meziere, owner... forgot the first name) replied and solved the issue.

My car was a daily driver back then and I could really not afford any downtime and since I bought the waterpump and paid overnight shipping for it and it died only 2 weeks later, I asked if they could maybe do some exchange or something. I was willing to pay the full price of another pump just so they don't think I won't ever return the original one. They pretty much told me that no way they would ever allow such thing since they'd end up with a used waterpump. Then the rep pretty much wanted me to beleive that I installed it wrong and it was my fault and that they couldn't help me.

So then I posted here and Meziere replied and then I called the owner directly and received instructions on how to send it to them for a repair.

Ended up paying about $65-$70 in Overnight and Priority Mail charges and about one week of downtime.

Oh yes, here's the picture of the LEDs and switches that were wired to the pump. There was nothing wrong with my wiring and all the electronics and the pump worked just fine.

Ended up being a bad seal from the factory.

Hate to hear that . Glad you're fixed up now.

Will definitely be a factor in purchasing a new pump...

I sold the Meziere after that. Never went back and never will go back to an electric waterpump unless I really have to use a double roller.

I found that a clean radiator + good airdam + 160 thermostat + water wetter + programmed fans will make your car run cooler than even the HD electric waterpump.
Mine is barely over the 160 mark and it stays there no matter what the outside temperature is and even in traffic where the temperatures increased with the HD pump.

All this with a biggest tranny cooler you can get mounted in front of the radiator.

(I had the Meziere on my 95 M6)
